The Doors of Perception

“We live together, we act on, and react to, one another; but always and in all circumstances we are by ourselves. The martyrs go hand in hand into the arena; they are crucified alone. Embraced, the lovers desperately try to fuse their insulated ecstasies into a single self-transcendence; in vain. By its very nature every embodied spirit is doomed to suffer and enjoy in solitude. Sensations, feelings, insights, fancies - all these are private and, except through symbols and at second hand, incommunicable. We can pool information about experiences, but never the experiences themselves. From family to nation, every human group is a society of island universes.”

I guess that desire itself is self destructive. Realization of this loneliness is the only way to redemption :D

Very well written...:)

Although...if one decides to come out of their shell of egocentric desires...one might realise that we are never alone. So in fact...it is acknowledging that we are never alone...the path to redemption.

But I guess I might be wrong :P

Dhakkan, I didnt write it :p

And its not a depressing thought, its a realization that we can never completely communicate or understand one another. So our expecations from people should be lower than what they normally are. And if our expecations are not met we shouldn't be as unhappy. (I am still zonked and this is badly written :p)

"Realization of this loneliness is the only way to redemption :D"

My comment was in response to this...which I believe you wrote.

I agree about it not being depressing..and yes I completely agree about not being able to communicate..its pretty evident right now!
